Eagle, Chicks, and Hen

老鹰捉小鸡

Child: Mom, can we go out and play?宝宝：妈妈，咱们能出去玩吗？

Mom: Sure! Oh, today Im going to show you a new game called Eagle, Chicks, and Hen. 妈妈：当然！哦，今天我要教你一个新游戏叫老鹰捉小鸡。

老鹰捉小鸡是咱们中国的游戏，没有官方英文名，我们选择了英语母语者比较认可的名称。不过，很多中国人也把这个游戏传到了国外，外国小朋友在了解了这个游戏的规则后，也玩得不亦乐乎呢。

Child: Whats that? 宝宝：那是什么？

Mom: Its a fun outdoor activity, similar to tag. 妈妈：它是一个很好玩的户外游戏，和逮人差不多。

Do you want to learn how to play it?你想学学怎么玩吗？

Child: Yes! 宝宝：嗯！

Mom: Actually, we need to ask Daddy to join 妈妈：对了，咱们得叫上爸爸，

because we need at least three people for this game.因为这个游戏至少需要三个人。

Child: Daddy!宝宝：爸爸！

Outside 在外面

Mom: Lets go to that area with more space.

妈妈：咱们去那边，那儿空间大。

We dont want to bump into others when we play.咱们玩的时候别撞到别人。

First round, Daddy can be the eagle,第一局，爸爸可以当老鹰，

Ill be the hen,我当母鸡，

and you can be the chick. 你可以当小鸡。

Child: How do we play it?宝宝：怎么玩啊？

Mom: The rules are simple. 妈妈：规则很简单。

Daddy tries to tag you爸爸来抓你，

and Ill stretch out my arms like this to protect you.我会像这样张开双臂来保护你。

Child: I see. 宝宝：明白了。

The eagle tags the chicks老鹰捉小鸡，

and the hen protects the chicks.母鸡保护小鸡。

Mom: Exactly!妈妈：完全正确！

You stay behind me 你要呆在我身后，

and put your hands on my waist 把手放在我腰间，

or just hold on to my shirt.或者就抓着我的衣服。

We are going to move very fast - 我们一会儿动作会非常快，

hold on tight!抓紧了！

Are you ready? 准备好了吗？

Go!

开始！

☀ Mom spreads arms shoulder high, shielding Child from Dad 妈妈张开双臂齐肩高，在爸爸面前把宝宝挡住

☀ Dad tries to go around Mom and moves here and there 爸爸想绕过妈妈，一会儿往这边跑，一会儿往那边跑

☀ Dad fakes a move, goes around Mom, and tags Child 爸爸做了个假动作，绕过了妈妈，抓住了宝宝

Child: Oh, No! He got me! 宝宝：噢不！他把我抓住了！

Mom: Dad was so quick! 妈妈：爸爸太快了！

Now that you are caught,既然你被抓住了，

you will be the eagle the next round.下一轮你来当老鹰吧。

Lets see if you can tag the chick.看看你能不能抓住小鸡。

☀ Child runs after Dad in one direction only and makes Mom and Dad feel dizzy 宝宝追着爸爸一直朝一个方向跑，把爸爸妈妈给绕晕了

Child: Im going to catch you!宝宝：我要抓到你了！

☀ Dad slows down on purpose and gets caught 爸爸故意放慢脚步，被抓住了

Child: Got you!

宝宝：抓到你了！

Dad, you didnt do very well at escaping.

爸爸，你没躲好。

Even Mommy couldnt stop me.

妈妈也阻挡不了我。

Mom: Good job!

妈妈：真棒！

You were such a fast eagle.

你这只老鹰可真快啊。

注意这里用过去时，因为说的是刚才发生的情况。下面一句中的was也是一样。

Child: Sure, I was.

宝宝：那当然。

That was so much fun!真好玩！

Mom: It would be more fun if we had a group of chicks trailing behind the hen. 妈妈：母鸡后面跟着一群小鸡更好玩。

The eagle might cut off the line

老鹰可能会把队伍冲散，

and catch several chicks at one time!

一下子抓住好几只小鸡呢！

Child: I can invite those children over there to join us. 宝宝：我可以邀请那边的小朋友加入咱们。

Mom: Yes, go ahead!妈妈：嗯，去吧！

☀ Children gather and begin the game 孩子们聚在一起开始玩

Child: I will be the hen.

宝宝：我当母鸡。

Stay behind me!
